Getting around Las Vegas means choosing between RTC buses, the free Downtown Loop, the Monorail and road transport. Here’s how the main public transit options connect downtown and the Strip.

Getting around Las Vegas is easiest when you match the route to your destination: RTC buses connect downtown with the Strip, the free Downtown Loop serves downtown sights, and the Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip. Las Vegas city centre is about 9 minutes by car from A Fisher's Inn Motel.

  • RTC buses: The Deuce runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, between downtown and the Strip.
  • Downtown Loop: A free service linking downtown destinations during set operating hours.
  • Monorail: Seven stations run between MGM Grand and SAHARA Las Vegas.
  • Downtown access: The free Downtown Loop serves destinations including the Mob Museum and Fremont Street Experience.

For trips between downtown and the Strip, the Deuce is the most direct public transit option; within downtown, the free Downtown Loop connects several visitor destinations. The Monorail serves stations along the Strip, while a taxi or rideshare is a road-based option for reaching an address outside those routes.

For a downtown outing, you can take the Deuce to Fremont Street Experience or use the Downtown Loop to reach stops such as the Mob Museum and Fremont East. To travel along the Strip, compare the Deuce’s street-level stops with the Monorail’s stations, which include MGM Grand, Harrah’s/The LINQ and SAHARA Las Vegas.

RTC buses and transit hubs

RTC buses and transit hubs

RTC’s Deuce on the Strip connects downtown Las Vegas with the Strip, running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with service normally about every 15 minutes in both areas.

Stops include Fremont Street Experience, Bonneville Transit Center, The STRAT, SAHARA Las Vegas, Resorts World, Fashion Show Mall, Harrah’s, Caesars Palace, Bellagio/Cosmopolitan, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay and South Strip Transit Terminal. For an individual route, use RTC’s interactive map to find stop locations and arrival times.

Visitor fares are $4 for one ride, $6 for a 2-hour pass, $8 for a 24-hour pass and $20 for a 3-day pass. Children 5 years old and younger ride RTC buses free when accompanied by a responsible person. The South Strip Transit Terminal is at 6675 Gilespie Street.

For downtown stops beyond the Deuce route, the city’s free Downtown Loop serves Bonneville Transit Center, the Arts District, Pawn Plaza, Fremont East, the Mob Museum, Fremont Street Experience, Las Vegas North Premium Outlets, Symphony Park, The STRAT, Circa and Las Vegas Civic Center.

It operates Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., continuously during those hours. You can connect between the Loop and the Deuce at the Mob Museum, Bonneville Transit Center and The STRAT.

The Las Vegas Monorail and Strip connections

The Las Vegas Monorail and Strip connections

The Las Vegas Monorail runs north from MGM Grand to SAHARA Las Vegas, with five stations between them: Horseshoe/Paris, Flamingo/Caesars Palace, Harrah’s/The LINQ, Boingo at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Westgate.

Station-to-station travel takes approximately 1 to 4 minutes from train departure, depending on the stations. All stations have accessible elevator service. Service begins at 7 a.m. daily and runs until midnight on Mondays, 2 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 3 a.m. Friday through Sunday.

Online fares are $5.75 for a single ride, $13.95 for a 24-hour pass, $24.45 for a 2-day pass, $30.85 for a 3-day pass, $38.10 for a 4-day pass, $45.85 for a 5-day pass and $59.95 for a 7-day pass.

The Monorail does not go to downtown Las Vegas. To continue to Fremont Street Experience, its operator describes transferring to the Deuce at SAHARA Las Vegas. If you’re planning a Strip visit, the Las Vegas Strip orientation guide covers where the area is and how to plan a visit.

Taxis and rideshares

Taxis and rideshares

Taxis and rideshares provide road transport around Las Vegas. Car travel can be an option for reaching destinations outside the public transit routes.

Planning a journey from the motel area

Plan from your destination backward: use the Deuce for a direct connection between downtown and the Strip, the Downtown Loop for downtown stops, and the Monorail for its station corridor. For destinations beyond those services, a car trip is another option.

The Monorail is not a downtown service, so use the Deuce or transfer at SAHARA Las Vegas if you’re combining its route with Fremont Street Experience.

Service times and fares can change. Check the official site before you go, especially for current RTC routes, bus fares and Monorail operating hours.
